A paper by Prof. Kenji Miyatake and Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Mahmoud of Clean Energy Research Center(Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Nanomaterials Center,Faculty serving concurrently ), “Highly Conductive and Ultra Alkaline Stable Anion Exchange Membranes by Superacid-Promoted Polycondensation for Fuel Cells” (https://pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.1021/acsapm.2c02227), published in ACS Applied Polymer Materials by the American Chemical Society, was selected to be featured on the supplementary cover of the journal. This paper reported that novel anion exchange membranes containing pendent ammonium, biphenylene, and perfluoroalkylene groups exhibited extremely high alkaline stability in harsh conditions, promising for fuel cell and water electrolysis cell applications. Prof. Miyatake commented that the molecular design for anion conductive polymers will be further improved for even better functioning membranes.
