A Paper by Prof. Makoto Uchida of the Hydrogen and Fuell Cell Nanomaterials Center and Doctoral course student of Soichiro Natori, “Performance and Durability of Membrane Electrode Assemblies Using Ni-Based OER Catalysts for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis” published in the journal ACS Applied Energy Materials by The American Chemical Society, was selected be featured on the supplementary cover of the journal.
In this paper, high-current-density electrolysis tests and start-stop durability tests simulating renewable electricity were conducted on electrode catalysts developed for anion exchange membrane water electrolysis (AEMWE), a clean hydrogen production device. The usefulness of non-precious metal catalysts as alternatives to precious metal catalysts was demonstrated with partial support by funds for projects from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and GteX Program.
This research is expected to contribute to further enhancing the performance and durability of AEMWE.
