January 07, 2010
On Saturday, December 26, 2009, Environment Minister Sakihito Ozawa visited the Center to see the new research facilities. This visit resulted from the Environment Minister’s request that he’d like to see the situation of Japan’s technical innovation. Center Director Masahiro Watanabe showed him around the building and explained the Center’s latest research on fuel cells.
“I was encouraged by seeing the world’s most advanced equipment. I’d like to aim at a Society that emits no CO2 by the use of science and technology. It’s not good to achieve CO2 reduction goals by reducing industrial productivity and being patient. I’d like to support you to the utmost,” the Environment Minister said, and expressed his high expectations for the research.
Those welcoming the Environment Minister’s first visit to the University of Yamanashi included S. Maeda (President, University of Yamanashi), M. Watanabe (Director, Fuel Cell Nanomaterials Center, University of Yamanashi), S. Yokouchi (Governor, Yamanashi Prefecture) and Y. Sato (Department Director, Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Technology Development Dept., NEDO).
